The chief export of the watery planet Caladan, Pundi Rice was a large mutated rice, able to grow to up to four centimetres in length, prised across the universe for its flavour. As a result, it was the primary source of income for House Atreides, rulers of Caladan, and the reason for their cultivation of the foodstuff.
It is probable that the pundi rice was a variant of common rice, changed by evolution over the years.
