Biographical Information
A Third Stage Guild Navigator loyal to the Spacing Guild, Oberon, whose mutation (bulbous head and useless legs and arms) distinguished him from other navigators, was not only a vital part of the Guild, but also as one of the most important acting ambassadors for it. On several occasions he carried out acts of diplomacy and arbitration for the Guild, even conversing with the Padishah Emperor Shaddam Corrino IV himself on at least one occasion. He was considered a mysterious recluse, and spent most of his time on the Guild Homeworld of Tupile, in his vast sanctuary. Like most navigators, he was surrounded for a lot of the time by a contingent of Guild-loyal Guildsmen.Biography
A high-ranking official of the all-powerful Spacing Guild, Oberon rarely emerges from his vast sanctuary on Tupile.

Nothing is known of Oberon's past, or his human life, but for most of his life as a Navigator, Oberon was on Tupile in his reclusive and contemplative state. Most likely due to his obvious negotiation and intimidation skills, he eventually became an ambassador for the Guild, and in the year 10,191 A.G., he was dispatched to Kaitain, Homeworld of House Corrino and civilised center of the Imperium, to discuss recent disturbing matters with the Emperor. The foremost of these was the matter of Paul Atreides, then only a young man.
Send a third stage Guild Navigator to Kaitan to demand details from the Emperor. The spice must flow...

Entering in the Golden Lion Throne Room, Oberon found the Emperor alone, after having asked his guests and other officials to leave the room, with his Truthsayer, Gaius Helen Mohiam present. Before Oberon's Navigator Tank casing was drawn back to reveal him, Mohiam was told that "the Bene Gesserit witch must leave" by one of the Entourage. She did so, making Shaddam truly alone, but, upon leaving the room, sat down and focused her awareness so that she could feel the situation in the room. Oberon's tank was then opened, revealing his floating form to the now slightly reviled Emperor. To begin with, Oberon remarked, fairly casually, that they had just folded space from Ix. Shaddam replied in suite, asking how their journey was. Oberon instead said that he thought there were many new fangled machines

Oberon then changed his tone subtly from casual to politic, saying that he could see and feel the Emperor's every move and thought; that he was transparent to him. It was this intimidation tactic in particular that must have earned Oberon his position. Oberon then continued onto the important topic at hand, business. He said that he had seen Houses Atreides and Harkonnen feuding, that Shaddam was responsible, and that he must tell him everything. The Emperor revealed his plans to destroy the Atreides, a house that threatened his rule, by sending them to occupy Arrakis, and then using the Harkonnens to launch a sneak attack with his own Sardaukar troops.
After having said this, Oberon revealed that the Guild had a slight problem with the Atreides. Outside, Mohiam listed in carefully for the revelation. Oberon demanded that Paul Atreides be killed, much to the confusion of the Emperor, who wondered if Oberon had made a mistake, and meant Leto Atreides.
The reasons for the Guild's intentions were simple. Paul Atreides, they knew, was the Kwisatz Haderach, a super being whose powers in prescience would surpass theirs if he were to ever take the Water of Life, causing them to lose favour and prestige among the Imperium. Not only this, but the boy was in the care of a Bene Gesserit mother, which meant that he would be under Bene Gesserit control, the Sisterhood being one of the Guild's adversaries.
Oberon then told the Emperor not to speak of what had transpired, and left, possibly to continue other important Guild matters. Outside, Mohiam gathered several sisters and told them that they needed to have a look at Paul on Caladan.

I just wanted to chime in with my ownership of the original art for the card. I bought it from Fred Fields a few years ago. It sits in my office now. Lady Margot was up for sale at the same time, but I couldn't afford that one.
